They’ll work closely with you to make sure all of your needs and preferences are taken care of. Can Sweet Basil accommodate dietary restrictions?

Absolutely! We cater to various dietary restrictions, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and more. Just let us know your specific needs and we’ll do our best to create a customized menu for you.

What makes Sweet Basil different from other New York City catering companies?

Our people! Our woman-owned company is made up of a small team of talented individuals who are passionate about hospitality & service. Plus, we limit the number of events we cater on a given day so that we can deliver the best possible experience for our clients.

What size events do you cater?

We cater events ranging in size from thirty to three hundred guests.

Can I provide beverages and alcohol for my event?

Yes. You can provide wine, beer, liquor and non-alcoholic beverages if you like, and our bartenders can serve it. We don’t charge a corkage fee.

How far in advance should I book your catering services?

We recommend booking one to two months out, however, we do our best to accommodate short-notice events depending on our schedule.

Does Sweet Basil operate in New York City?

Yes. We primarily cater in Manhattan, but we also service Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx.

❌SKIP complicated foods. Hors d’oeuvres are meant to be FUN little pops of flavor. There’s nothing exciting about a canapé tied in chive bow 🥱

✅ Include 1-2 classic comfort foods. You can make them more modern with small adjustments, like homemade pigs in a blanket with chorizo or roasted shrimp cocktail (instead of poached).

People CONNECT emotionally with “comfort” nibbles & will seek them out (especially after a couple of cocktails)

✅ Serve BOTH hot and cold hors d’oeuvres. Three hot & three cold is a good mix. Too many hot require more time in the kitchen & less time with your guests.

✅DOUBLE UP on hot hors d’oeuvres so you don’t run out. They go faster than cold ones💨

✅ GO DECADENT Cocktail parties aren’t the place for diets. Don’t be afraid to serve 1 or 2 indulgent appetizers. As the night goes on they’ll disappear quickly 💫

✅ ELEVATE the look & flavor of finger foods by adding garnishes. Like herbs, seeds, or tiny dollops of sauces.

👉🏼4-6 hors d’oeuvres per person if you’re ONLY serving finger foods (no dinner).

👉🏼Cheese: Variety of three cheeses, 2 ounces total per person

👉🏼Meat: (ie prosciutto, salami) 1-2 ounces per person

👉🏼Crudites: Variety of three veggies, 1 - 2 ounces total per person
